This tool draws your image onto an HTML canvas and applies the browser's native CSS/Canvas filter: blur() function before re-rendering it, which produces a Gaussian-style blur — every pixel is replaced with a weighted average of its neighbors, with the averaging radius controlled by the intensity slider. A small radius only softens fine texture slightly; a large radius spreads each pixel's influence across a much wider area, smearing sharp edges and small details, like facial features or text, into an indistinct blur. A common question: if I blur a face, can AI "unblur" it and recover the identity? The short answer: it depends on how much you blurred it and whether multiple frames or reference images exist.
Deblurring a single heavily-blurred photo is mathematically an ill-posed problem — infinite possible original images could produce the same blurred result. AI can hallucinate plausible details (making blurry text sharper, reconstructing a face from a blob), but it's guessing based on learned patterns, not recovering actual lost information.
