Convert between major world currencies with a quick swap button and popular-pair shortcuts.
Comparing prices, budgeting for a trip, or estimating the cost of an international purchase all require converting one currency into another — and doing that math correctly means working through a cross-rate, not just multiplying by whatever number comes to mind. This converter handles that instantly: enter an amount, pick your source and target currencies from over 30 supported options, and get the converted figure along with the exact rate and its inverse. Everything runs in your browser using reference exchange rates, so there's no page reload and no data about your amounts or currency choices sent to a server. It's built for quick estimation and comparison — for a transaction where the exact rate matters, your bank or payment provider will quote you their live rate at checkout.
Rates are illustrative reference rates. For live rates, use your bank or a financial provider.

Currency conversion looks like a single multiplication, but under the hood most converters — including this one — route every conversion through a common base currency rather than storing a direct rate for every possible pair. With 30+ currencies supported, storing a direct rate between each pair would mean hundreds of individual numbers to maintain and keep consistent. Instead, each currency has one rate relative to a single base (US Dollar), and any conversion between two other currencies is computed as: divide the amount by the source currency's rate to get a USD-equivalent value, then multiply that by the target currency's rate. This two-step calculation is what happens instantly when you click Convert, along with computing the direct pair rate and its inverse for reference.
The rates used here are reference values rather than a live market feed — they update on a periodic basis rather than tick-by-tick like a trading platform. That distinction matters: real currency markets move continuously, sometimes by meaningful amounts within a single day, driven by interest rate decisions, economic data releases, and overall market sentiment. A reference rate gives you a solid estimate for budgeting, comparing prices, or getting a rough sense of what an amount is worth in another currency — but it won't match the exact rate you'd get quoted by a bank, currency exchange counter, or payment processor at the moment of an actual transaction, since those add their own margin on top of the underlying market rate.
Because the calculation runs entirely client-side in your browser, converting an amount doesn't require a network request or send your numbers anywhere — the rate table is loaded with the page and the arithmetic happens locally. That makes repeated conversions instant, with no lag waiting on an API response, which is useful if you're comparing several currency pairs back to back while planning a trip or a purchase. If your comparison also involves financing a large purchase, the EMI Calculator can help estimate what the monthly payments would look like once you've settled on a currency and amount.
The swap button and quick-pair shortcuts exist to reduce friction for the handful of conversions people run most often — checking USD against EUR, GBP, or JPY, for example. Swapping doesn't just flip the display; it recalculates the conversion in the opposite direction using the same underlying rate logic, so the result stays mathematically consistent no matter which way you're converting.
Unlike most online tools, Toolivon processes everything directly in your browser using the Web APIs built into Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge.
